Luxury Las Vegas Condos Achieve Prestigious Energy Efficiency Recognition

- April 30, 2014

The Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) awarded One Queensridge Place a property tax incentive for introducing energy and water savings measures for its luxury condominiums in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One Queensridge Place, a master planned community built in 2007, received the incentive after meeting the “Gold” level standard of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. This prestigious rating system is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings.

“This incentive continues to encourage developers to make their buildings more efficient,” said Paul Thomsen, GOE’s Director. “Project successes like this one confirm Nevada’s commitment to efficient construction and design.”

To achieve Gold certification, One Queensridge Place analyzed energy consumption in its main condominium towers, guest houses, and an underground parking garage. These measures placed the facility in the top 14% of comparable energy efficiency buildings and earned One Queensridge Place a 30% tax incentive for 10 years.

“We were extremely pleased to have received this certification,” said Richard Govitz, One Queensridge Place General Manger. “Being the first residential condominium in the State of Nevada and possibly the U.S., we are setting a new standard in high-rise living in both Nevada and the country. Even after receiving the Gold certification, we strive daily to find more and different ways to sustain a green and energy efficient environment here at One Queensridge Place.”

The decision to approve the incentive highlights GOE’s ability to facilitate cooperation among stakeholders, lead initiatives to stimulate economic development, and attract energy related business ventures that include site development, energy education, and retrofitting.
