IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Gov. Sisolak joins six other states in letter to President Biden highlighting the costs of climate inaction

(CARSON CITY, Nev.) April 21, 2022

This week, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak joined governors from across the country in a letter to President Biden to signal broad state support for congressional action on a clean energy tax package to immediately deliver cost saving benefits to families and individuals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that continue to drive climate change and devastate communities with natural disasters.

The letter, which focuses on priority investments in clean electricity, energy storage, transmission, zero-emission vehicles and alternative fuel infrastructure, clean energy manufacturing, and energy efficiency, was signed by governors in Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington. The letter highlights the cost of inaction and states:

“The best possible path to address these rising energy costs as well as the costs of climate disasters is through investments in clean energy that are focused on creating long-term savings for families, making the power grid more resilient and reliable, and advancing American innovation, job creation, and economic competitiveness.”
