New Energy Industry Task Force 2011 - 2013

Governor Brian Sandoval issued an executive order in November 2011 charging the New Energy Industry Task Force with facilitating the timely development of transmission facilities and renewable energy resources in the state. Task Force work included the development of the “business case” for renewable energy in the state and transmission planning recommendations to the Governor by the fall of 2012. The order stated that coordination of transmission planning and development was critical to the success of the renewable energy industry in Nevada. The Energy Office Director served as the chair of the Task Force, which also included members of industry, utility, transmission development, environmental interests, as well as representation from the PUCN, Nevada System of Higher Education, the Bureau of Land Management, Consumer Protection, and other valuable stakeholders.
