(CARSON CITY, Nev.) December 07, 2022
David Bobzien, Director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) announced his resignation today, effective Jan. 2, 2023.
“I am so proud of everything GOE has accomplished under Gov. Steve Sisolak’s administration,” Director Bobzien said. “This position and leading the team at GOE to advance clean energy in the Silver State has been an honor and a highlight of my career.”
Under Bobzien’s leadership, GOE has elevated Nevada’s presence as a leader in clean energy, regional electricity market coordination, and energy efficiency throughout the West and nation.
In the last four years, Director Bobzien has led GOE to represent Nevada’s clean energy economy within the halls of Congress, as a champion for the 25 GW target of renewable energy on public lands by 2025 that ultimately became law under the Energy Act of 2020. In addition, he has elevated Nevada’s work in regional electricity coordination through service as chair of the Western Interstate Energy Board (WIEB) and collaboration with neighboring states on resource planning and procurement. Director Bobzien was also instrumental in drafting Nevada’s first-ever executive order guiding the administration’s action toward ambitious climate goals.
With Bobzien’s leadership, Nevada has continued to advance progressive bipartisan policies on renewable energy and energy efficiency, which have both continued to thrive under his leadership. Since Bobzien was appointed in 2019, GOE has overseen an addition of 2,250 megawatts to Nevada’s renewable energy capacity and associated investment of $3.1 billion, provided energy policy guidance for landmark clean energy and energy efficiency bills, prepared for historic funding for energy from the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, and incubated the Nevada Clean Energy Fund.
Prior to serving as the Director of GOE, Bobzien served on the Reno City Council and prior to that in the Nevada State Legislature, representing Assembly District 24.
