Energy Office's Nunez honored by Building Codes Assistance Project

CARSON CITY, Nev. - November 05, 2012

BCAP is proud to announce Emily Nunez as this quarter’s Energy Code Champion.

Emily is responsible for overseeing the building energy codes policy for Nevada. She has 19 years experience with the State of Nevada and served as operations deputy for former Governor Jim Gibbons prior to taking over her new role at the Nevada State Office of Energy (NSOE).

In 2010, she oversaw the publication of two energy code gap analysis reports for Nevada. Following the completion of the reports, Emily managed the funding for a project that delivered a five-year strategic plan for energy codes in the state, seven energy code ambassadors, numerous code trainings and educational seminars in Northern and Southern Nevada. Emily also provided tools and equipment for local government building code officials to comply with energy codes, provided scholarships to the EduCode International conferences for code officials and the building industry, and she provided vouchers for code officials to take the International Code Council exams on energy codes to become ICC Certified.
